UFG is currently hiring for a Pricing Actuary who will drive the development of actuarial pricing, data analytics, and state filing projects for UFG’s Commercial Property & Casualty segment. This individual will work closely with Underwriters and Data Scientists to develop and implement pricing strategies that drive towards profitable growth of our P&C segment. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and communication skills. We are looking for an individual who is internally motivated, intellectually curious, can manage multiple projects, and is driven to enhance existing processes.


Responsibilities:



  • Communicate information and results to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences across the organization.

  • Make informed actuarial recommendations based on professional judgment and experience; effectively challenge and/or escalate issues related to business decisions or processes that are not able to be supported from an actuarial standpoint.

  • Support the annual profitability review process.

  • Assist junior analysts in their daily work and understanding of actuarial methods.

  • Prepare rate filings using actuarially supported methods.

  • Support efforts to increase consistency, efficiency, and compliance with internal standards.

  • Support rollout of new Policy Administration system.

  • Assist with financial projections and reporting.

  • Develop underwriting rating tools and engines.


Qualifications:


Education:



  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial sciences, statistics, or related field.


Certifications/Designations:



  • ACAS designation.

  • Employees are expected to participate in continuing education throughout their careers.

  • FCAS preferred.


Experience:



  • 5+ years of actuarial experience in Property and Casualty Insurance.

  • Experience with admitted commercial lines pricing preferred.


Working Conditions:



  • General Office Environment.

  • If not located within Cedar Rapids area, travel up to 10% travel including overnight stays.

  • Open to consider a remote work location.
