1) Current Texas LVN licensure

2) BLS

3) ALS


5) Basic arrhythmia/telemetry training

6) Completed training in IV management/Central Access Devices through WHS

7) Minimum 1 year experience in Hospital LVN role preferred

Must have current licensure/certifications upon hire. New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the required BLS and ALS Certification and Basic Arrhythmia/Telemetry Training

Physical requirements: Able to properly care for the patient population

The Licensed Vocational Nurse administers bedside patient care to NEWBORN, PEDIATRIC, ADOLESCENT, ADULT, and GERIATRIC patients, assesses and documents the effects of care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The LVN demonstrates skills basic to vocational training and must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The nurse must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess date reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient requirement relative to his or her age-specific needs. The nursing functions of the LVN are carried out according to hospital policy, hospital mission statement and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: The LVN reports operationally to the unit Team Leader, and administratively to the Unit Director

OSHA Task Category One: There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes during the performance of the job. Universal precautions must be observed, and protective devices worn by the employees when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure
