This position is located in Blue Island, IL and reliable transportation is a must. This role is mainly a Monday through Friday position, working from 8:30am to 5:00pm with a 40 min lunch. Though there may be times to work briefly on a Saturday, it is not very common for that to happen. We really want to ensure that our employees have a great work/life balance. Pay is commensurate on experience.

The individual for this role should have a work hard/play hard mentality. Being able to hit the ground running when coming on board is to be expected. So having a background in recruiting, talent acquisition or HR, as well as, being efficient using an ATS is strongly preferred. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will actively recruit, connect with outreach agencies, administer and execute innovative recruitment strategies across the Chicagoland area. This is a hands on position that requires close collaboration and communication with Principals, Operational Managers, and candidates. In this role, you’ll provide critical support to multiple operational lines furthering the capabilities of our business objectives. Working within a team, the Talent Acquisition Specialist will lead the execution of Guardian’s recruitment strategy. The position is essential in Guardian’s approach to attracting, evaluating and hiring top talent Security Officers, Security Supervisors, Mid-level Managers and other positions, as required.

Qualifications / Additional Skills / Aptitude


    • Must be a creative, thoughtful problem solver, self-starter and driven to deliver results

    • Strategic thinker with hands-on style to deliver practical and effective solutions

    • Must have a recruiter mentality familiar with the cutting edge of current talent identification and recruiting strategies including social media

    • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive. A recruiter who can carry a high volume of open requisitions at a time.

    • Experience cold-calling and direct sourcing for talent, including accessing talent, negotiating and closing offers

    • Experience with hourly employees preferably in the security industry over multiple locations.

    • Prior work experience conducting applicant sourcing, recruiting, screening and interviewing job applicants in a fast-paced work environment

    • Working knowledge of employment laws and civil rights legislation as they pertain to recruitment, interviewing, and selection and placement process

    • Excellent organizational skills that include the ability to multi-task and prioritize work

    • Strong candidate sourcing experience that includes both traditional and online resources

    • Sound understanding and use of Applicant Tracking Technology

    • Strong consultative, analytical and problem-solving skills

    • Ability to communicate effectively with leadership

    • Actively engage with Operations and HR team members to identify staffing needs; monitor health of applicant flow into the Applicant Tracking System and take proactive measures to increase pipeline.

    • Screening, interviewing, sourcing, and recruiting management, supervisors and security personnel job applicants.

    • Track and maintain necessary data to support candidate recommendations, summaries and debriefs.

    • Assist in creation of new job descriptions and advertisement requests.

    • Periodically assist with personnel onboarding, to include new hire orientation.

    • Actively seek out, organize and participate in job fairs, career expo, hiring events etc.

    • Develop and maintain outreach relationships and contacts with Disabled, Veteran, Female, and Minority Organizations and Agencies.

    • Oversee the recruiting of security personnel for start-ups for various clients.

    • Develops and maintains successful external recruiting programs that build brand awareness and consistently provides a pipeline of talent for the region.

    • Establishes strong relationships with external community organizations, security training schools, and local colleges to create a sustainable pipeline of candidates.

    • Utilizes established social recruiting channels to interact with candidates and to build regional employer brand.

    • Designs, implements and maintains the appropriate processes, tools, systems and training necessary to scale and support the recruiting function.

    • Collaborates and executes on Guardian brand initiatives driving focus on the candidate experience.

    • Communicate effectively with internal partners to ensure preparedness during the recruitment and interviewing process.

    • Reviews, updates and approves standard job postings and job descriptions.

    • Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

    • Handles a variety of extremely confidential and organizational reports, information, and issues
    • Requires alertness and attentiveness to detail. Ability to quickly make sound business decisions and resolve conflicts and issues
    • Monitors and ensures application of all Guardian policy and procedures.

Employment Qualifications/Requirements:


    • Education/Experience:
      Bachelor’s Degree preferred in HR or a related field from an accredited university. Equivalent work experience may be considered with a lesser degree. Must have two- (2) or more years, experience in full life-cycle recruiting. Knowledge of safety/security related operations preferred. Must have advanced computer skills; familiar with Microsoft Office suite of products.

    • Required Certifications/Screenings:
      Must have a valid Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) or willing to apply for one. All applicants must complete a pre-employment screening process. Includes a background investigation.

    • Employee Traits:
      Mature demeanor, personality and attitude is paramount to your success. Possess strong communication skills, both verbally and written. Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently. Maintain an impeccable image and adhere to our professional military grooming standards, which includes: No visible tattoo(s) that cannot be covered up with a short sleeve shirt. Must possess exceptional customer service skills, public relation skills and the ability to interact well with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds. Must maintain a working telephone at all times, in order for us to contact you. Must have reliable means of transportation. Flexibility to cover additional shifts, as required, by client’s needs.

    • Physical Demands:
      In an office setting you will be required to sit and or stand for extended periods of time. Minimal lifting required but could be some from time to time of up to 20 lbs. Must have the ability to walk up and down stairs.
