Position Summary:

As the Clinical Consultant, reporting directly to the Director of Clinical Services and Wellness Programming, you will be responsible for the support of newly onboarded therapists and clinical staff on organization-wide initiatives and quality assurance programs in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations. This role also supports each rehab team in optimizing each residents well-being through clinical education, regulatory compliance, and clinical practices within each location, including during the acquisition of and opening of new senior living communities


  • Provides input and clinical support for organization-wide clinical initiatives as identified by Director of Clinical Services and Wellness programming, including the implementation and monitoring of the electronic health records system
  • Trains and provides ongoing support of electronic health record super-users and ongoing support for all staff for day-to-day issues
  • Assists Area Rehab Directors with clinical training and ongoing support of newly hired therapists at new clinic sites, existing clinical sites, and transitional clinic sites
  • Works to provide staff with the necessary resources and guidance to make orientation process as smooth and efficient as possible
  • Completes clinical record reviews of all newly hired therapist for the first 14 days of employment to ensure compliance with Medicare Requirements and Agency Conditions of Participation
  • Provides feedback and education to each therapist following completed clinical record reviews on quality and compliance of documentation and billing practices
  • Identifies the unique needs at new, existing, and transitioning clinic sites and provides necessary support to meet these needs
  • Assists in the implementation and monitoring of policies and procedures within each community, including during acquisitions and the opening of new communities
  • Demonstrates competence in regulatory compliance and provides regular education to newly hired clinical staff and area rehab directors so that that each community maintains compliance with all regulatory agencies
  • Assists all Agency sites to maintain Agency status and to ensure compliance with all Conditions of Participation
  • Assists in the continued education on new and updated policies and procedures in Patient Care Manual, Regulatory Manual, Emergency Preparedness manual, as well as corresponding policies and procedures that are in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations
  • Participates in Governing Body, Professional, Quality Assurance/Statistical Evaluation and Infection Control committees for the Rehab Agency
  • Provides support in the implementation of clinical rehab programs and evidenced based practices that meet the needs of patient and residents in senior living communities
  • Networks and creates relationships within the assisted living and long-term care industry
  • Aligns his/herself with owners vision for service quality and value creation
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:

  • Five (5) years of experience in a senior care community with proven leadership and organizational skills

  • Great analytical, communication and interpersonal skills are required along with the heart and passion to work with older adults while providing the best care possible
  • Proven experience in training, developing and leading strong therapy teams
  • Must have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations, be flexible, work well with many interruptions, and to effectively balance multiple projects at one time
  • Respect for the principles of resident rights, including privacy and confidentiality
  • A minimum of Five (5) years of experience as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Language Pathologist OR Eight (8) years of experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant or Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • Applicable State licensure(s)
  • Must possess strong knowledge of laws and restrictions regarding Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy practice, including applicable state practice acts
  • Must possess a solid understanding of Medicare and Home Health regulations in both Assisted Living and Memory Care communities
  • Must exhibit and promote a high level of professionalism, customer service, curiosity, and friendliness in all interactions with employees, residents, and visitors throughout the organization
  • Ability to travel overnight as needed with occasional excessive travel

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
