POSITION SUMMARY: Assures completion of all housekeeping and laundry tasks. Assumes responsibility for general cleanliness of the building. Monitors needed janitorial and maintenance work


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality and a home-like environment for Residents
  • Monitors inventory of chemicals, supplies and equipment needed for laundry and housekeeping tasks
  • Communicates chemical, supply and equipment needs to Executive Director
  • Maintains required records; uses Maintenance Request Log appropriately
  • Familiarizes self with cleaning schedules of Residents apartments and common areas to assure completion of housekeeping tasks
  • Performs housekeeping, janitorial tasks and minor repairs as assigned
  • Assures that other janitorial and repair requests are properly logged and monitors their completion
  • Provides laundry services as needed and/or directed
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control procedures
  • Observes problems, concerns and issues observed with Resident units, the community and the grounds and communicates them appropriately
  • Observes changes in Resident status, needs or preferences and communicates them appropriately
  • Observes other problems and communicates them appropriately
  • Observes all work, safety and administrative rules
  • Adheres to all established policies and procedures
  • Records Resident information as required
  • Avoids loss, breakage and waste of supplies and equipment
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to procedures for fire, life safety, disaster, security, work, safety and other emergencies
  • Associate should perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A passion for helping seniors
  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • Must be able to communicate effectively (written and oral form) in a care setting with residents, families, staff
  • Must be able to climb, bend, lift, stoop, kneel, crawl, push, reach and carry, stand for extended periods of time and may be required to move furniture
  • Able to respond productively and to handle additional tasks/projects as assigned
  • Ability to detect odors and see spots and spills
  • Ability to move housekeeping cart with cleaning equipment.
