Job Summary


To maintain the Quality Assurance program for the Company that conforms to the Company’s Sales, Marketing, Grow out, Processing and regulatory needs.


The shipping supervisor’s purpose is to carefully monitor shipping practices to certify that accurate and timely picking, staging, and loading procedures are being followed on their shift. Work with and oversee the leads responsibilities in directing the work of shipping laborers, scanners, and cooler organizers. It is critical that the supervisor be engaged in all current activities to ensure the shift is working to its fullest potential and accomplishing the tasks on hand


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following. Any other duties or responsibilities assigned by manager


  • Customer orders are set-up, picked, staged, and loaded accurately and in a timely manner. This includes any additional paperwork required by certain customers. If loads are delayed for any reason (like product availability) it is the supervisor’s job to communicate that to the warehouse manager and/or production planning.

  • Schedule and approve shipping team member’s vacations and personal days. Approve and sign off on team member’s timesheets through ADP Time & Attendance with minimal errors. This includes reporting absences, partial days worked, vacations and personal days to payroll and human resources.

  • Assist in the daily, and period ending inventory counts. Report counts and any discrepancies to the warehouse manager and inventory control personnel.

  • Make sure all shipping team members are performing their duties in a safe manner. Also, monitor the warehouse for any possible safety or quality concerns.

  • Operate ERP software (currently Microsoft Dynamics NAV) to create driver Bill of Ladings and customer Pro Forma Invoices as well as view current inventories.

  • Ensure all SOP’s established for the shipping department are being followed and all guidelines set forth by OSHA, USDA, and SQF are being followed.

  • Directly supervises an entire shift (approximately 8-10 team members) within the shipping department, carries out all supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the companies’ policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Take a proactive role in assuring safe, quality products are produced by immediately addressing and safety or quality concerns.

  • Other duties may be assigned.


Qualifications



Education and Experience

Demonstrated basic knowledge of chicken processing, and specific knowledge of department processes and product mix. Demonstrated ability to effectively select, train, and manage staff to fulfill dept goals. Ability to effectively administer discipline and coaching according to company policies. Effective decision-making skills. Effective skills in comprehending and utilizing data provided from accounting and production reports.


  • Desired HS Diploma or equivalent.

  • College preferred but not required.

  • Must have experience in a leadership role or demonstrated ability to function as an effective leader.

  • Effective professional communication skills to both hourly and managerial personnel.

  • This position would require daily operational discussions requiring the ability to communicate to team members of multiple languages basic English should be required with bilingual skills desired.

  • Basic math skills, ability to effectively use calculator, stopwatch and spreadsheet data. Basic knowledge of scaling process and basic units of measure for weight.

  • Effective decision-making ability and ability to prioritize and react to priority changes in rapidly changing environment.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook

  • Basic computer skills including ability to effectively use email and basic Windows based applications.
